BROTHERS BEHIND THE BUSINESS
Following in the footsteps of their father, one of the founding members of SPAR South Africa, Ballito Lifestyle Centre and Lifestyle SUPERSPAR owners, Bruce and Paul Rencken, literally grew up in the retail industry. Much of their youth was spent in their father’s store, where they learned the trade by working in every division, from the butchery to the bakery. It was this grounding that helped the Rencken brothers in 2003, when they took on their biggest project to date. What started out as a plan to open a new SUPERSPAR evolved into the two of them also developing the Ballito Lifestyle Centre. The North Coast, and specifically Ballito, was growing at a rapid rate and they set out to create a shopping experience that would suit the needs of this growing community, including their family-owned SUPERSPAR.
Conveniently located at the centre of Ballito, Lifestyle SUPERSPAR is situated in the easy-to-access outdoor Ballito Lifestyle Centre, Open 7am – 8pm every day of the week, with free, secure parking, you can pop in and quickly grab the things you need any time!
At Lifestyle SUPERSPAR we pride ourselves on not only providing top quality service, the freshest products and the widest range, but also on supporting local suppliers and growers wherever possible.
MEET THE TEAM
SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY
We love to give back to our shoppers, many of whom have children attending our neighbouring schools, Ashton International College and Umhlali Preparatory. We are proud supporters of local school sport, sponsoring sporting requirements and first team kit for these schools.
Our pensioners in our town are important to us, so we like to assist them with a discount, as well as spoil them with a free cup of tea or coffee in our coffee shop, on Tuesdays. We also throw in live music now and again for a jolly shopping experience.
Any goods that are still on shelf that we believe are no longer sellable but are still consumable are donated to local NGO’s who have taken on the responsibility for caring for those that are without. Among others, we are proud to support The Christian Outreach Programme and The Society of St Vincent de Paul and thank them for the invaluable work they do for the needy.
Supporting Local Suppliers
We pride ourselves not only on providing top quality service and products, but also on supporting local suppliers, producers & growers wherever possible.
Help us help our local school girls!
According to 2018 research by Stellenbosch University’s Law Clinic, 30% of South African girls miss school during their menstrual cycles due to limited or no access to sanitary products. We have launched a campaign to help school girls in nearby communities by making it affordable for local shoppers to donate sanitary pads. We are encouraging our customers to purchase a pack of Petals Classic sanitary pads 8’s for R5 to donate to local school girls, who often have to miss one week of school every month. We have teamed up with three local schools in the broader community, Nkobongo Resource Centre, Sizani Combined School and R. A. Padayachee Primary School, to whom the pads will be distributed to assist their learners to attend school more consistently.
